Be holy
1 Peter 1:16 tells us to be holy because our God is holy. To be holy is to be set apart; there is a standard we must uphold as children of God. Our character, behaviour, views, and perceptions should be different from the world simply because we are kingdom children. Being in this world, we have to remember that we have the mind of Christ- 1 Corinthians 2:16. Therefore, the things of this world must be filtered through the word of God with the mind of Christ.
Unholy World
Daily, we are told to “do you, own our truth, live our best life now, and live our reality”; what do all these even mean? As a Christian, if you follow these mantras, you will be living your truth and best life apart from Christ, which is impossible as Jesus tells us in John 15:5 that we can do nothing apart from Him. This thought pattern is a lie from the pit of hell. The world is the devil’s domain and he seeks to confuse you that you can do everything and you are enough as long as you own your truth.
Holiness Mixed with Unholy World View
These days, the issue with Christians is that we have mixed Christianity with the world’s view. When you bake a cake, all the ingredients are combined to form the batter – flour, sugar, eggs and butter. Once mixed, it is impossible to separate all the components. Such is the case of the Christian who has mixed biblical principles and teachings with the world’s view, who can no longer differentiate what is true or false. Child of God, all you need to do is look at social media to see people who profess to be Christians half-naked and misbehaving, all for the sake of attention. As a Christian, the good news is that you have the grace of God to help you detangle all the false world views when you spend time in the word of God.
Renew your Mind
Child of God, examine yourself and be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Don’t be like the Israelites who did what is good in their own eyes. We need to step away and seek the Lord to renew our minds Romans 12:2, so we may live our best life in Christ and with Christ alone.
