Out of Fellowship with God
It is not uncommon for some Christians to stray from their faith for one reason or another. We live in challenging times, a time of confusion and uncertainty that may cause a strain on our relationship with God.
Depression, addictions, stress, hurt, unanswered prayer(s), stagnation, and abuse are just reasons you may have strayed from God. You may be saying to yourself, “what is the point of walking with God?” life is hard, and nothing you do seems to work – you are fed up!
Consequence of Staying Away from God
Being out of a fellowship with God does not mean you have entirely renounced Him. Prayerlessness, not spending time in God’s word, or not in fellowship with other Christians can result in detachment from God. Where sin abounds, God is absent; a life apart from God can leave you devoid of hope, purpose, love, joy fruitfulness, leaving you exposed to the enemy who prowls around like a lion seeking someone to devour 1 Peter 5:8.
Be Restored
You know deep down that the power that saved you by grace was not fake, and you are in Christ as a redeemed child of God – that power STILL dwells in you. So, let it perform the transformational work you need because the longer you stay in the wilderness, the harder it will be to restore your relationship with your God; know this, you have the unmerited favour of God that embodies joy, and peace, love, and forgiveness.

Just like the prodigal son Luke 15: 11-32 who left his father’s home to pursue his desires and, as a result, squandered his father’s money. When the son found himself in a barren land, he had to return to his father’s home, as hard as that must have been; there, he did not find hostility, accusation, or blame. Instead, he found love, grace, and forgiveness. He asked his father’s forgiveness which was given to him without question. How much more will you find when you return to your heavenly Father regardless of your sins; repent, fall into his open arms and receive the grace that isn’t judgmental and requires nothing from you.
Whatever has happened in the past, leave it at the feet of Christ; he tells us in Matthew 11:29 that we should come to Him if we are weary and burdened, and He will give us rest. That rest will only manifest in your life in Christ by the grace of God; those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength Isaiah 40.31. Therefore, Put your hope in Christ Jesus today and begin your transformation.
Stay Connected to God
Any relationship in life that is worth having must be cultivated; it is the same with God. You must spend time with Him in prayer and reading /studying His word. Don’t be like the little boy who fell over and got mud all over one hand. When he went to wash the dirt off, he took his clean hand to wipe his dirty hand resulting in his clean hand becoming dirty. If you want to be clean, spend time with Christ, not in the world. 2 Corinthians 7:1 puts it this way “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.” Grace is calling you back – answer the call.
What next?
Right now, decide to return to your Abba Father, confess your sins then repent of them.
