In the Wilderness

You may be in the wilderness right now, going through unbearable, challenging circumstances. You feel overwhelmed and can’t seem to find your way out. Is it your marriage, unanswered prayer, illness, death of a loved one, debt, etc., that drove you into the wilderness?

I also found myself in the wilderness a few years ago; I went through a challenging time that saw me questioning the presence of God in my life and why I was in the fire – after all, I am a good woman, and I did everything God asked me to do. In my eyes, I had not done anything wrong. I could not understand why God allowed me to go through the fire. It was tough in the wilderness; I was alone with nowhere to turn but to God.

Light in the Wilderness

Light in the Wilderness

After a while, I realised it wasn’t so bad in the wilderness. There, I drew near to God, and found joy, and myself in Christ; the longer I was there, the more I prayed and the more peace I obtained. I remember my sister saying, “no one would ever know you are going through a terrible time” it was then Philippians 4:7 was brought to my mind by the Holy Spirit. The verse reads, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. I knew then God Almighty was working everything for my good Romans 8:28.

Stay Focused on God in the Wilderness

Child of God, don’t fear the wilderness; you have been placed there for a reason. Spend time in prayer and ask God to guide you. Lean into Him and spend a lot of time in His word; keep yourself righteous and focus on Him. Everyone’s experience is different, and so is the outcome of their testing time. For me, I drew near to God, I learnt to study the bible, my desire for his word grew, I learnt how to be obedient, and I lived and breathed (I still do) God. I couldn’t get enough!

Stay the Course in the Wilderness

Stay Focused on God

If you are deep in the wilderness right now, I encourage you to embrace it and not turn your back on God. No matter how difficult, stay the course, do whatever it takes to draw near to God; when you do, He will draw near to you – James 4:8 and with that comes your transformation.
